Bowling Green District Youth Event: Valentine, Be Mine

Written: 4/1/2009

On Sunday, February 15, one day after Valentines Day, about 90 youth and youth pastors came together from nine different churches in the Bowling Green District for worship and fellowship at Christ UMC. The JAWS of life! from Broadway UMC led in a great time of worship. What a blessing it was to see so many youth clapping and hands raised as they worshiped the Lord together! Brian Hicks from Brentwood UMC in Nashville on the true meaning of love: loving God deeper and loving our neighbor.

The youth broke into groups by grades for a special time to meet new friends and pray together for their youth groups and schools. It was incredible to look in the back of room and see all the high school seniors from around the district with hands together and heads bent as they prayed for one another.

Afterwards, the youth enjoyed a time of snacks and fellowship as the stage came down and a volleyball net went up. Each youth group battled to win the championship. But it was Christ UMC that came out victorious.

It was a great time of fellowship, fun, laughter, and worship as youth from many different churches gathered together. We are looking forward to another time of worshiping together later this year before the new school year begins.

Jessica Ballesteros, Youth Pastor, Christ UMC
