Supporters shopping for items in the Silent Auction

Written: 8/25/2009

Each year we celebrate the generosity of our donors and the blessings of The Home by holding this on-campus event. This event is held by the Friends of the Children Board to raise funds for the residents. This helps to pay for special activities, like school dances, sports team fees and equipment, birthday items, and more fun stuff. This year's Annual Day is Saturday, September 12.

Everyone is invited to join us. We serve a wonderful FREE lunch that's homemade. There will be tours of campus, including one of the cottages. In addition, we will have special activites for children ages 5 to 18 while parents attend the auction.

The auction includes items such as a beautiful Oriental room screen, a telescope, a Posh Salon gift basket, furniture, lamps, artwork, jewelry, musical instruments, handmade quilts, afghans, glassware, dishes, table linens, gift baskets, collectible cookie jars, wooden craft items, two 10-speed bicycles, wreaths, Christmas decor, cakes, pies, brownies, vacation get-aways, golf packages, autographed items from celebrities such as UK footballs and basketballs, and gift certificates for dining out. Cash, checks and Visa/MC accepted. You must take merchandise that day.

Schedule
9:30 Registration & Bake Sale Open
10:30 Inspirational Program
11:45 Lunch & Exclusive Preview of All Auction Items
12:30 Silent Auction Open for Bids
1:00 Live Auction Begins

Though the Home began its ministry 137 years ago as an orphanage, it has transitioned to serve children with histories of abuse, neglect, or family trauma through a variety of programs—both residential and community based. Approximately 670 children, ranging in age from birth to 21, are served annually through the programs at the Versailles and Owensboro Campuses.

All proceeds benefit the youth of The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children & Youth.
