Warren County Churches Work Together to Build Home
Written: 7/30/2009 Kingdom Builders The United Methodist churches of Warren County (Bowling Green District) are joining forces together, working shoulder to shoulder, with Habitat for Humanity to build a new home for a single mother and her four daughters. Stacey and her daughters, Hanna, Misty, Devon, and Dora, came to Habitat seeking the opportunity to rebuild their lives after having gone through a painful relationship. Stacey’s desire was to provide her girls with a place they could call their own and where they could realize the possibility of starting life over again, leaving behind the pain of a broken relationship. The work of building God’s Kingdom here on earth, as it is in heaven
Crews of 10-12 people, working 2 shifts (8-12 and 1-4) every Saturday, have taken a barren piece of ground and are transforming it into a sanctuary of grace and love. Prayer walks are conducted up and down the street, offering up blessings upon the neighborhood, in expectation that God’s love will pour out of this house and impact the whole area. Tables are set for lunch in between the work shifts, inviting any who walk by into fellowship over the breaking of bread. And the sounds of hammers and laughter create music every bit as harmonious as the sweetest hymn! Construction is expected to continue until the end of September (although at the time of this writing, the construction is about 3 weeks ahead of schedule), so there are plenty of opportunities to participate. Financial contributions, made payable to Habitat for Humanity, would be appreciated and may be sent to the Bowling Green District Office (PO Box 9937, Bowling Green, KY 42102). You may contact Kevin Mays at kmays@hollandcpas.com or (270) 303-0761 for more information or to assist. Kevin Mays, Pastor, Sugar Grove UMC
