LACE Up Your Sandals

Journey deeper into your faith

Vital Churches that promote spiritual formation, caring relationships, worshipful celebration and community transformation are churches whose leaders are informed, energized and empowered.

The Bowling Green District has created LACE (Lay Academy for Church Excellence) to help committed disciples identify, develop and enhance their spiritual gifts, coaching them in their leadership roles in the church.

If you want to grow in your understanding of the Church, Methodism and your role as a leader or potential leader in the church, then LACE up your sandals and get ready for a journey of spiritual growth.

LACE will be offered on 5 weekends (Friday nights/Saturday mornings) at various locations around the district. Outstanding leaders from the district and conference will lead these sessions. The core curriculum prepares participants in three ways:

• Learn more about Untied Methodist history and theology
• Improve leadership skills to become a more effective servant leader in the Church
• Completion of the basic requirements to become a lay speaker

Topics included in the curriculum:

Spiritual gifts / Proclaiming the Gospel through Worship Leadership, Witnessing, Personal Lifestyle, Personal Faith, Leadership and Service, Preaching and Teaching / Church Organization / Spiritual Disciplines /

Our Methodist Heritage / What United Methodists Believe / Social Principles of the UMC / Restorative Justice / Stewardship / Conflict Management

The first LACE module will be offered March 20-21 at Rockfield UMC. The cost is only $25 for all five sessions. Childcare will be provided at each site.  If you would like to register or would like more information, please contact the District Office at 270 842-5075.   Church scholarships may be available to help with costs.
