Annual Conference 2008 King Reception Invitation

Greetings in the Name of our Risen Lord!

The 2008 Kentucky Annual Conference is rapidly approaching.  All of us are making preparations for that time together in the life of our Church. 

As you know, this might be Bishop King's final annual conference session with us as our bishop.  I know you and your church will want to join with others from around our conference as we express our love and appreciation to the Kings for the wonderful spirit they have shared with us during their time in Kentucky.

As you can see on the insert included, we will be honoring the Kings with a reception following the worship service on Mission Night at the Annual Conference Session.  The Conference Committee on the Episcopacy and the District Superintendents are joining together to raise the funds to present the Kings with a meaningful gift of appreciation and love.  You are receiving this letter and these inserts as an invitation to participate in raising these funds.  Your District Superintendent can give you more details about what is needed and how you and your congregation can share.

Further, we realize that some churches or even individuals might wish to give additional gifts to the Kings to personally bid farewell and show your appreciation for them.  If you would like to do this, please let your District Superintendent know.  We plan to have a table (or tables) for these gifts at the Kings' reception during Annual Conference.   In the best interest of our time at Annual Conference, all public expressions of gratitude and gifts should be reserved for the reception time.  Please ask others you know to join with all of us on Tuesday evening rather than taking time during plenary sessions to express our love.

Thank you, in advance, for your generosity to the Kings.  They will always mean a great deal to the people of Kentucky!
