Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children Annual Day 2009

The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children & Youth held its 27th Annual Golf Scramble and Annual Day Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12, 2009. Since the golf scramble was held on September 11, 2009 the theme for the event was “Honoring Our Homeland.” The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children & Youth Golf Scramble is one of the largest in Kentucky; over the years participation has grown to over 300 golfers from around the region. The scramble was held at The Brook Golf Course in Versailles, KY.

The golf scramble raises funds that are used to help youth who come to the home with histories of neglect, abuse, and family trauma.  Last year the two homes served over 670 children. That may not have been possible without the funds raised by this golf scramble.

This year the scramble was blessed to have Kohl's Department Store as the main sponsor and further blessed by Dutch Ishmael Ford-Mercury, who donated a Ford Mustang for our Hole-In-One Contest.

On Saturday, the children's homes celebrated their Annual Day. Each year the homes celebrate the generosity of donors and the blessings of Kentucky Methodist Children's Home by holding this on-campus event in Versailles. This event is held by the Friends of the Children Board to raise funds for the residents. The day helps to pay for special activities, like school dances, sports team fees and equipment, birthday items, and more.

The day was filled with children's activities, both silent and live auctions, a homemade complimentary lunch, and tours of the Pre-Independent Living Cottage.  Rev., Dr. Kenneth Cummings delivered the message during the inspirational program.
